About us

Introduction

The Department of Industrial Management, established in 1990, has enrolled more than 800 undergraduate students. The department has provided a master's program and a PhD program since 1999 and 2004, respectively. Our graduate students are expected to be familiar with major areas in both industrial engineering and technology management. The focus is to educate students to lead and communicate with people, to analyze and solve practical problems, and to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of an organization.

Teaching and Research

The faculty of the Department consists of 6 professors, 8 associate professors, and 1 assistant professor. We offer a wide range of courses which emphasize theories as well as applications. Junior and senior students are required to participate in a 16-month-long project led by a faculty member with their own choices. Most faculty members receive research grants and awards from the Ministry of Science and Technology or other organizations. The Department has held the annual Conference on Technology and Applications of Quality and Management since 1993, with support from various industrial corporations in southern Taiwan. The faculty members also contribute constantly to the local industry in the manner of consulting services, professional seminars, and extension courses on various topics.
